‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8: Kunal Nayyar, Simon Helberg, Jim Parsons reflect, look forward
“The Big Bang Theory” is one of hardest shows out there to get a whole lot of news on during the summer hiatus, and for a number of different reasons. For one, this is a show that starts production later than most thanks to its format, and has a writers room that keeps things pretty hush-hush. Also, it is a comedy, and more of the focus is on making people laugh rather than fleshing out some twisty storyline.
Nonetheless, the general consensus we get from the new video interviews with Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Simon Helberg (Howard), and Jim Parsons (Sheldon) with GoldDerby is that all three of them trust the writers implicitly, and are never too worried one way or the other when it comes to the future of their characters. No one knows a whole lot about where the story is going from here, and that has to be the most frustrating for Jim given that Sheldon could be spending all summer seeing the world on a train.
These interviews are meant to promote the show for Emmy consideration, and we do feel like all three of them have a shot. Kunal is someone we put our own dream ballot for the Supporting Actor in a Comedy category, given that Raj had a great year, and he has always been one of the series’ unsung heroes over the past several years.
The new season of “The Big Bang Theory” is set to premiere on a Monday this year, thanks to the CBS decision to air football on Thursdays for a handful of weeks. Stay tuned for more on that.

I would like to see the first scene of Amy crying on the couch because she misses Sheldon, there is a knock on the door, she opens it, and Sheldon is there saying “I could not stay far away for long without you.” and that he never boarded the train, but he wants only Amy to know he is back, and stays in hiding for a while he figures out what to do nect.

I want to see more entire ensemble episodes like the scavenger hunt. That was brilliant. You were only missing Raj’s dog cinnamon. Also, it’d have been funny to have someone get phone call with Yogi’s Treasure Hunt as ringtone. I love to see characters we don’t traditionally view as a team being forced to work together. It was kind of like the old Marvel Team-Up comics where Spider-Man always had the most peculiar guest star. One time The Avengers comics also from Marvel even had CBS’s own David Letterman make a special guest appearance. So theres that. Also I want there to be a process of the other core relationships like Howard and Bernadette be built up the same as how Leonard and Penny then Sheldon and Amy have had entire episodes just to themselves. I mean if this thing with Raj and Emily is the real deal then Koothrappali is going to need someone to emulate. Even if its a schmuck like Howard. “If I Didn’t Have You” was a nice touch this season. More of that and less of Sheldon being so off-putting towards Amy that it makes the tip of my nose feel frostbite and blood run cold would be superb. Don’t make me have friends think I’m going off the rails talking to them again. This isn’t only a crazy train. Last I looked it was a little band *from* Burbank that hit number 1 on the Billboard charts first. Also, consistently keep the costumes and the set well lit. Maybe its just my television set but its like I watch it and the first run it always looks fresh like the toy aisle at a department store but then by the second or third rerun its like CBS decides to cut corners and broadcast it in some toilet shade of brown or bleach the print to look washed out somehow. I want it to be all colors all the time. Its set on the west coast in southern california. If the plain states and back east have a problem with that tell them the cast are playing californian. Would they keep Texas from having tall hats and cowboy boots? No. Ok then so too leave my sunshine alone. Also too, more music references as well. I’ve seen promotional pictures where the gang were dressed as Blondie in one photo then the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s costumes in another. I’d love something like that worked into the show. You did great with the girls getting Disney makeovers before.
Maybe like Bernadette and Howard, Leonard and Penny sing Fleetwood Mac’s “I Don’t Want To Know” together then Sheldon does a double-take and Amy plays his bongos doing her best Mick Fleetwood open-mouth drumming impression? Something like that too would work. Theres all kinds of stuff you can do! :D Just like on the middle to later seasons of Happy Days before Joanie Loves Chachi ruined everything. You’re really hitting on cylinders now. So heres where we go Almost Famous surviving the small plane ride in a thunderstorm. We can, as they say, still rock in America.
