‘Rookie Blue’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Being Erica’ star joins for major role

While you prepare for the start of “Rookie Blue” on ABC, here’s some news about what is going to be coming up a little bit later down the road.

According to a new report from TVLine, actress Erin Karpluk of “Being Erica” fame has been cast in a major role, and will recur heavily on the second half of the show’s 22-episode fifth season. The first half of this season will air this summer, while the second half will air in early 2015.

In a statement all about this casting (which is still more or less shrouded in mystery), executive producer Tassie Cameron had the following to say:

“[Being Erica] was a great show, created by one of my dear friends [Jana Sinyor] … I’ve always been looking for a chance to get [Karpluk] on our show, and we finally did. So that’s very exciting.”

“Rookie Blue” is definitely a great show to be a part of at this point in the run, given that you have a good opportunity to appeal to multiple audiences at the same time. The show is first and foremost Canadian, but its audience in America has become a loyal following all its own. There are many questions when it comes to how this story will develop, but we don’t feel like the producers will rush anything when it comes to the way that the story progresses.

The one reason that it is so hard to speculate right now when it comes to this role? It is that by the time that this episode ultimately airs, we are probably not going to see the same sort of landscape that we have now. Things can change quickly!
