2014 MMVAs: Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Lorde, Ariana Grande, and more to know
For everyone who is in Canada, or has MuchMusic in their cable package, Sunday night is going to be a big one. The 2014 MuchMusic Video Awards (a.k.a. the MMVAs) are going to be held in Toronto, and there is already a lineup of performers set up for the show.
First, though, we have to start off with a simple question: Why in the world are Kendall and Kylie Jenner hosting this? It seems almost too easy to bash the Kardashians sometimes, and their whole “famous for nothing” empire that they have built. But with these two, they literally found fame just because of their siblings.
To Kendall’s credit, we will at least acknowledge that she has worked hard and built a modeling career for herself. However, how does this lead into hosting? It just feels like a very strange choice for MuchMusic to pick two people with zero hosting experience to be on the show, especially when Kendall did so terribly at the Billboard Music Awards and basically admitted then to not being good at this sort of thing. We would’ve went with someone who already has at least a history of performing, and not just having cameras follow her around. Modeling and hosting can often be thought of as very different things.
As for the lineup of performers, this is at least a pretty nice assembling of big names, whether it be the likes of Lorde, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, or some popular Canadian acts such as the Sam Roberts Band and Hedley.
