‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Michael Trevino on Tyler’s uncertain future

“The Vampire Diaries” certainly has no problem when it comes to leaving open loose ends, especially when you look at the sheer number of them following the season 5 finale. Obviously, some of the most substantial ones are those around Damon and Bonnie’s fates, and thanks to that maybe the situation that Tyler Lockwood faces is being somewhat glossed over.

For the first time since the early stages of the show, Tyler is going to have an opportunity to actually reclaim a part of his life as a normal human again. There will be no more horrific transformations for him, and also no more sire-bonds or feeling like he has something to hide. For an actor like Michael Trevino, you have to imagine that the possibilities right now are both endless and exciting.

Speaking about this subject in a new chat with Zap2It, it seems as though Trevino’s words definitely reflect that sentiment:

“I’m curious as to what’s going to happen with Tyler now that he’s human … I feel like he’s kind of in the danger zone a bit because he’s not able to protect himself but he’s still aware of all this supernatural activity going on, so I’m curious to see if he’s going to stay involved with the supernatural world as far as the friends that he has. Or, is he going to try and break away and live a normal life?”

Personally, we’d like to at least see Tyler give humanity a try for a while. Maybe he gets flung back into the world of supernatural creatures at some point, but we couldn’t blame the guy if he wanted to take a step back and enjoy the simple things in life.
