Stanley Cup Finals: Is NBC’s ‘Crossbones’ new tonight, or delayed thanks to game?

Crossbones -Friday nights this summer have become a destination for NBC’s new pirate series “Crossbones,” but for those of you hoping to see another one of the adventures for Blackbeard and Thomas Lowe tonight on the high seas, you are probably feeling a little disappointed right now.

A few days ago, it was looking almost like the Los Angeles Kings were going to be able to sweep the Stanley Cup Finals, and therefore keep there from having to be a temporary hiatus for the show. However, that changed when the New York Rangers won Game 4 of the series, and forced the teams to return to California.

Tonight, the Stanley Cup Finals game is currently airing, and there will be no new adventure for “Crossbones” for the time being. The show will return next week, but we already have to ask the fateful question thanks to this delay: Are we getting near a problematic situation when it comes to scheduling? There is no new episode this week, and three weeks from tonight, there is the 4th of July holiday that will almost certainly mean another repeat. It is hard for new shows to get viewers back after breaks in the action, and even more so when it is in the summer and there are so many other attractive options out there (like going outside or heading to the movies).

If you are a major fan of the show, our advice for now is to use this time to try and get more and more people hooked … and yes, maybe that is an obvious pirate pun.

Luckily, we’re going to be sticking with “Crossbones” the rest of the way regardless of when it airs, or what happens on the show.
