‘Orange Is the New Black’ season 3: Mary Steenburgen signs on for significant role

The way in which “Orange Is the New Black” is being produced this year is certainly interesting. As of right now, many viewers are either just finishing, or are still in the process of getting through the show’s second season. Meanwhile, the third is being filmed as we speak. The interesting thing about that is that you are not getting a lot of time for viewer feedback, and you really have to just put your faith in those who work on the show to deliver on everything they have come up with.

One thing that they can feel very good about right now? The fact that they have Mary Steenburgen on board for a major role. The actress (coming off of some great roles on “Justified” and “30 Rock”) confirmed as much in a new post on her Twitter account. However, that was really all that was given away in terms of details.

In the end, you are clearly going to have an incredibly long period of time to sit around and speculate over who she could be playing, given of course the fact that the new season of the show will not be on Netflix most likely until the summer. That means there will be many opportunities fr everyone else to engage in a game of catch-up.

This has turned out to be quite an enormous week of news for the series, given that we are still coming off the announcement from Laura Prepon that she will be back as a regular in season 3, and will therefore be a part of every episode that goes on the show.

What do you think about this addition to what is an already-super-popular show? Share your thoughts with a comment.
