‘Mad Men’ season 7: Is John Slattery ready to say goodbye?
In between now and the end of “Mad Men,” this is a story that you can probably expect to see from a number of different sources. Everyone is going to be starting to get nostalgic, and looking back on what has been an insane past several years. It is one of the most rewarding and critically-acclaimed series of all time, and while you would love for it to last forever so that you could continue to have the exposure and acclaim, there is also a part of you that must know when it is time to say goodbye.
John Slattery addressed this very topic himself as a part of a new interview with Variety, and in addition to saying that “you don’t start out in this business thinking, ‘I’m gonna get one great part and play it forever,'” he also offered up the following statement to just give you a sense of how long these people have embodied these characters:
“It’s been seven years but by the time it finishes airing it will have been almost 10 years between shooting the pilot, waiting for it to go and then whatever irregular intervals. My son was 6 (when it started), and he’ll be 16 when it finishes.”
This is a crazy amount of time with one show, and with it ending at this time there are plenty of opportunities for Slattery to go on and do some other things. He has a movie coming up that he directed, and we’re sure that if he ever wants to do TV again, there will be a plethora of offers. The ball is really in his court there.
