John Oliver continues glorious World Cup conversation on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’

Seth Meyers -This has been quite a week for John Oliver when it comes to talking about the World Cup, and it led to an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that was just about as funny as his sketch on “Last Week Tonight” earlier in the week.

If you may recall, that sketch was mostly Oliver completely eviscerating the organization known as FIFA who puts on the World Cup every four years, and creates so many problems for host countries and so much more. This conversation was just a little more geared on his own fanaticism for the sport that we call soccer, and how he has learned so much about medicine, ironically enough, from injury reports that have happened in past incarnations of the event.

As for America, there was even a little bit of conversation in here about the US team, but there was not a good prognosis on their future. For those unaware of where the Americans stand, they were placed into what is arguably the hardest bracket of teams anywhere in this year’s cup, and despite having a solid crew of young players, it is going to be very difficult for them to compete in here. Maybe they could still pull off some sort of an upset, but at the moment it seems unlikely.

We’re not a sports site, though, so to be honest we could really care less about some of the finer details related to the game. What we really enjoy and appreciate more than anything else is the comedy that comes from the conversation, and this chat has plenty of that and then some.
