ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4: Will Joe Morton’s new gig mean less of Pope?

More scoop -This is a long-familiar tale when it comes to many TV actors out there: You see them cast in another role, and then you immediately start to worry about whether or not they are leaving your favorite show.

The latest case of that comes via “Scandal” star Joe Morton, who is going to be appearing on the upcoming TNT drama “Proof.” Does one hurt his chances of being a part of the other? Not exactly.

Speaking to TVLine, Morton confirmed that he does not star work on “Proof” (which stars Jennifer Beals) until January, which means that he would be around for a pretty big chunk of “Scandal” if Rowan has more story to tell. You have to remember here that the character was not exactly left off in a good place, though. If there is one reason to really have hope for his future right now, it may just because Harrison is seemingly dead for sure, and it would be a little much to kill multiple people over the course of a pair of episodes. (Then again, Shonda Rhimes did this with “Grey’s Anatomy” in the past, so it is hardly impossible.)

So why would Morton ever move away from this show? If you think that is what he is doing, then you may be looking at this wrong. This is an opportunity for Morton to have a full-time gig, and possibly still make appearances on the ABC series depending on what happens with the story. We’re excited for him, and we are also very much excited to see what happens from here on the show.
