‘NCIS’ earns huge ratings honor before season 12 production begins
Next month, work will begin for the cast on “NCIS” season 12, but why not allow them a moment or two to celebrate something that only a select few get a chance to have?
In a statement today via the Monte Carlo TV festival, it was confirmed that the series had won the International TV Audience Award for having the biggest global audience of any show over the past year. We know already that “NCIS” delivers huge total viewer counts in America, but this factors in everywhere from Europe to Asia to Australia and everyone in between. Agent Gibbs is a household name for many all around the world, and someone like Michael Weatherly could go to even some remote cities and run the chance of someone approaching him as “Tony.”
In a statement touting this big news, executive producer Gary Glasberg had the following to say:
“As NCIS enters its 12th season, we couldn’t be happier to learn we’re now the #1 drama in the world. It’s no secret that determination and teamwork have allowed our cast and crew to continue to deliver a show we’re truly proud of. We also know we wouldn’t be here without the support and loyalty of the best fans in television. Thanks to our worldwide audience for helping us start the new season off right.”
It is interesting that the show still won despite some drops this past year, especially in the 18-49 demographic, but this largely a testament to just how popular the series is now globally. This is the sort of thing that can happen, though, when you have been around for more than a decade; international outlets can be sometimes slow with their pickups, but this series has in particular had the time in the opportunity to gain audiences all around the world.
For those curious about the specific breakdown, this award was for all 2013, which means that you did have part of season 10 in there along with the first half of season 11 … in America at least. Some countries were still on season 10, and there are others out there who we know were still even earlier in the show’s run.
Are you happy for “NCIS”? Share below.

thank you for pointing out in the article that it was for S10 & beginning of S11 – when Cote was on the show. too bad the article doesn’t point out that EW was the one who accepted the award & not anyone who was actually on the show for when the award is for. it’s laughably pathetic. cbs is digging their own grave.

My hubby and I have watched and loved NCIS from the get go. We used to watch JAG its predecessor and thoroughly enjoyed it. We now also watch NCIS LA and will watch NCIS New Orleans when it launches in the fall. We enjoyed the pilot episodes of this spin off. We were saddened by Cote de Pablo’s decision to leave NCIS but we must move on. We hope like many others that she will return even just for a cameo in the future just to keep things interesting and Tony guessing. We hope that Season 12 will get off to a good start. There have been some teasers about McGee continuing his relationship with Delilah, Gibb’s second ex-wife and meeting Bishop’s husband. We hope that the writer’s will get a chance to develop Bishop’s character more. We including the actors and writers that put on these shows are all human. We/they make mistakes, learn, forgive and move on. We all have a choice; watch or don’t watch. Even with all the upheaval this season the show stayed on top so that says something. Cote might have rocked the boat by leaving but she didn’t sink the ship nor do I think that she would have wanted to. She did indicate in a parting interview that she is open to returning at some point. I say let’s just all take a collective breath and wait and see how this next season pans out. A last comment I’d like to is that I hope that they do crossover episodes with the three shows at some point. Not every episode, just for a surprise here and there to shake things up. Chicago Fire and Chicago PD do this and it works very well. There was a crossover between NCIS LA and Hawaii Five 0 before and that was good too.

NCIS is the best show ever and will always be. The changes always offered space for new things. If people don’t like it, don’t watch it but stop annoying loyal Viewers who want to be happy and enjoy the show. This is an article celebrating that wonderful show and still people make it all about one actress who turned her back against the show, the cast & crew. NCIS is an ensamble show, not a one-actress-show. Never was and never will be. I will support and watch the show forever, for as I live because it is great and continues to be great.

I am both happy and sad. Most of the world was not predominately watching Season 11. Almost everyone believes that I up to nearly the end of the first half of Season 11 it was Number 1 and that makes me happy. North America showed a big decline over the second half of Season 11. The sad part is GG won’t replace Bishop with a new person and will use these stats to argue his case.

It’s thanks to Cote if NCIS was the most watched drama in Season 10!!

Ugh it’s for part 10 and part 11. Read the article again in case you have not seen it.
