‘Fargo’ finale spoilers: Martin Freeman and an end in ‘Morton’s Fork’

“Fargo” has taken us on quite the journey the past several weeks, but all journeys (at least good ones) need some sort of end. This is where we are courtesy of “Morton’s Fork,” which is going to air on FX next week and should tie together the story of Lester Nygard, Lorne Malvo, and the rest of these characters we have met in these tiny communities. Given all of the “true story” labels and advertisements, there is also no evidence or proof out there that a happy ending is going to be upon us.

Before we do anything else, let’s go ahead and share what is the official synopsis of this hour courtesy of the network:

Molly takes the lead, while Gus pursues a hunch. Lester manipulates a situation, and Malvo finds a new target.”

It doesn’t take much to guess or be afraid of who Malvo’s target could be now, doesn’t it? Molly and Lester both are obvious targets, dependent of course on what he learns and the information that he finds.

In case you are wondering what the meaning of the title is, it’s not some random location on the roads of Minnesota or North Dakota. In the end, it’s a form of reasoning where to two separate points, despite not having much in common or even contradicting one another, end up leading to the same not-so-pleasant result. We certainly wouldn’t label this good news for any of these characters in the slightest.

By the end of the finale, we hope to have at least answers on some things, but we have no expectation or even desire to get backstory on who Malvo is or what he did before arriving in the town. We just want to see the battle wage, and the victor receive the spoils.
