TV Quick Hits: ‘Inside Amy Schumer,’ ‘Faking It’ renewed; Jerry Seinfeld’s new trailer
It has been a while since we’ve offered up an edition of TV Quick Hits, but we will begin here with a pair of big renewal updates.
“Faking It” – This MTV comedy, about two girls who pretend to have a lesbian relationship to draw attention to themselves, will officially be brought back for another season. This is big news for the network, given that “Awkward” has really been the only comedy that they have had to drum up a significant amount of attention from the public.
One other part of us that is excited is the part that likes to see former “American Idol” contestants succeed. Season 9 alum Katie Stevens is one of the stars of the show, and we like to see people from this much-maligned season come out and prove people wrong.
“Inside Amy Schumer” – This sketch / comedy series for Amy has become a favorite of many critics since it first premiered on Comedy Central, and while the ratings do not necessarily equal a runaway success, it really does not matter much in this case, since critical acclaim tends to bring more attention to the network and the other shows that are put on the air. You will be seeing more of Amy next year thanks to a season 3 renewal.
“Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” trailer – Jerry Seinfeld’s web series is going to premiere on Crackle June 19 at noon, and the lineup is pretty diverse this time. You have Jon Stewart, Aziz Ansari, George Wallace, and more sitting down for a hot beverage, and to talk about pretty much everything that comes to mind.
The one part of this that is somewhat strange to us is the presence of Sarah Jessica Parker. Since when was she considered a comedian? It’s no slight on her, but we came close to feeling the same way about Howard Stern … though he at least has more roots in comedy than she does.
