‘Mad Men’ season 7: Matthew Weiner to write, direct series finale
n this week’s edition of “news you saw coming a mile away,” we are here to tell you this: You better get ready to see Matthew Weiner’s name quite a bit in the credits for the “Mad Men” series finale.
According to TVLine, the show creator is going to not only write the series finale for the show, but he is also going to direct both this episode and the one that airs right before it. This means that Weiner is going to be extremely busy over the next few months, given how much work comes with being an episode’s director.
The one good thing that Matt has going for him? Time, and plenty of it. The series will not be airing again on AMC until the spring of next year, which allows plenty of time in the edit bay to figure out how you want things to look.
Ultimately, it just feels like such a full-circle moment in order to ensure that the man who brought “Mad Men” into this world will be able to give you the ending that he wants … and you have to believe that he will keep the secrets of this close to his heart. This is the most-secretive show on TV, and even compared to past seasons he will have a metaphorical team of snipers waiting around every corner for those who want to spill details.
There are only seven episodes left, and that does not leave a good bit of time to speculate and wonder.
