‘Undateable’ episodes 3 and 4 review: Why you should watch NBC’s comedy
Anytime that you see a comedy series premiere in the summer, the general expectation here is that you really should not expect much at all. Typically, they are just network burn-off that get terrible ratings, and are doomed to go away in a few weeks.
However, we feel like “Undateable” is actually a better show than almost every comedy that NBC put on the air in the fall or the spring. While it may not be the sort of mountain-mover that will have the press talking, it’s funny. It also has a pretty great cast from top to bottom. Chris D’Elia was the best part of “Whitney” during its time on the air, and Ron Funches in particular is one of our favorite comics on the air right now. Ever since we first saw him on “@midnight,” we’ve pretty much wanted to see him in everything.
In going back to that earlier theme of the show not revolutionizing anything, these two episodes were mostly about guys trying to get with women, and learn something in the process. With the bar setting, this may actually be the sitcom replacement of “How I Met Your Mother,” especially since “How I Met Your Dad” is not going to be on the air.
These two episodes had a few laughs scattered throughout, and included everything from cutting off the heads of teddy bears to men in bathtubs to the revelation that lime juice really does sting when you put it on someone else’s eyes. We laughed aplenty, and we’ll be watching at least for the rest of this season. While it may have no future depending on the second round of ratings (it did well the first time), it is one of those comedies worth watching regardless. Grade: B+.
What do you think about “Undateable’ as a show, and do you think there is actual promise for another season? Share your thoughts with a comment.

I agree completely. I didn’t realise how funny Chris D’Elia could be now he is out from under Whitney’s shadow. He is a natural with physical comedy. The show has some great one liners and setups and the supporting cast has some potential once they have been developed a little further. Looking forward to more
