‘The Bachelorette’: Eric Hill’s brother shares thoughts on Andi Dorfman interview, more
Anytime that you have something as sensitive as someone on a TV show passing away, there are obviously going to be a variety of different opinions as to how to handle it.
This week, there is of course no other example other than “The Bachelorette.” There was little question that the show was going to feature the circumstances leading up to Eric Hill’s death, and to pay some tribute to him after the fact. Had they ignored the issue, it would have looked incredibly insensitive. Even still, they run the risk of being in a situation where they potentially look like they are being insensitive, or exploiting the major issue at hand. It is a hard place to be in.
For what it is worth, Eric’s own brother seems largely content with the way in which the show chose to handle all of this. Speaking to “Entertainment Tonight” in a new interview, Scott Hill passed along the following message about what the show did, and whether or not they pushed things a little far:
“I don’t envy the situation that ABC was in, given the circumstances … It’s kind of a fine balance, I think, for anybody to deal with a situation like this … I thought they did a fine job. I’d love to have an opportunity to sit down with Andi in person and kind of get her perspective off camera.”
This will not be the last time that Eric is brought up on the show. We know that he is going to be mentioned at least in some capacity during the “Men Tell All” special, and the producers will likely air at least something from the overnight dates and beyond after the news was passed along to the contestants that he had passed. So in the end, you almost have to think of this entire presentation right now as incomplete.
