‘Rising Star’ video: Kesha, Brad Paisley, more

Are you interested in “Rising Star“? The show will premiere on ABC a little bit later this month, and it at least has some potential to be an interesting inclusion in the lineup.

The video below helps to explain some of the premise behind the show, and if there is one thing that we really like about it, it is the potential to completely uproot what the rest of the shows out there are doing. All of the voting is literally conducted live over social media, and they are the determining factors in whether or not the contestants move on to the next phase.

We know that there are some out there concerned about the whole time-zone issue, but the show at least has a nice way of working around most of that. As we reported recently, it will be airing live in three out of the four time zones, and there are mechanisms in place to at least give West-Coast viewers an opportunity to be able to save some contestants who were not sent through on the East Coast.

The one thing that we don’t quite understand right now is why in the world there are judges in the first place We understand that Brad Paisley, Ludacris, and Kesha are all popular people with certain demographics, but why have them if they don’t really matter in the vote? It just seems like they are just there to mostly convince people to watch, and we also have no clue what the chemistry for these three is going to be. At least you have Josh Groban as a host, and he is known for having a good sense of humor.
