‘The X Factor’ notes: Simon Cowell on new judge; Fifth Harmony teases song
We’ve got an announcement about an “X Factor” announcement leading off this edition of show notes, and with that, we turn to the man behind the show himself in Simon Cowell.
So what should you be bracing yourself for now? Think something along the lines of the fourth judge on the British show’s panel being unveiled this week. Simon confirmed to Digital Spy that the name joining Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole, and himself will be revealed a little later in the week, and the person who is set to be revealed is a woman. What does this really mean? Maybe it is a little bit of credence to all of the rumors surrounding Mel B joining the show, but we wouldn’t read too much else into it for now. Unless it is either a big name or Dannii Minogue, we don’t feel like it is going to bring in any new viewers to the franchise. We don’t really think Simon’s return will help, either. That was just an excuse to get the British tabloids to write articles last year.
New Fifth Harmony music – Ready for a brand-new tune from Fifth Harmony? Following “Better Together” and some of the success that the group had there, it was reasonably clear to us that they would be trying out something else. With that, we now have for you “BO$$” (a.k.a. “Boss”).July 7 is the date that this song is supposedly coming out, and it definitely is a more R&B-focused sound for a girl group that was more pop with the first batch of songs that came out. Hearing a slightly different sound isn’t much of a surprise to us, though, mostly because you start to figure out who you are a little more after being a part of a group for a while.
