‘Under the Dome’ season 2: CBS gives Stephen King show ‘Looking Back’ special
Clearly, CBS knows that they have a ratings monster in “Under the Dome.” So with that in mind, can you really blame them for wanting to milk the show for almost everything that they can?
The network confirmed on Monday that in just three weeks on June 23, they will air a special pertaining to the show entitled “Under the Dome: Inside Chester’s Mill.” The purpose of this particular special is to give you an inside look at what is going on with the show, whether it be some teasers behind the scenes, a look back at the first season, and also a look ahead for season 2. We totally understand why CBS would want to get something like this on the air, given that they are very much aware of how well the show does. This is also a nice way for potential new viewers to get hooked on the show that did not watch the first time around.
In the end, though, we still feel as though CBS is going to have a very hard time when it comes to trying to get the same sort of ratings that they had for the show the first time around. One of the reasons that they did so well is simply because of the fact that there was so much buzz around this new, exciting thing. Some of the buzz is now gone, and the show slipped in quality as the first season went on. The recent ratings of “Revolution” season 1 vs. season 2 show you what can happen to a property over time. We’re not saying that “Under the Dome” slipped as much as “Revolution” did or it will have as big of a ratings drop, but we’d be stunned to see it get anything over a 3.0 in the 18-49 demographic.
