‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: When did the writers start work?

Law & Order: SVU logoWe’re continuing to present our series of articles all about the writers for some of your favorite shows returning to work, but when it comes to “Law & Order: SVU,” it’s a little bit of a different story. After all, the writers for this show have actually been at work for a little while now.

According to the writers room’s official Twitter account, May 22 was the first day of the writers working on the show again. Per the information that was posted there, the title for this episode is tentatively “Girls Disappeared,” and the director that is listed is Alex Chapple. He has directed multiple episodes of the show already, including “Comic Perversion,” “Reasonable Doubt,” and “Dissonant Voices” over the past season. Also, he has also done episodes of “Blue Bloods,” “Bones,” the original “Law & Order,” and also the “Criminal Intent” and “LA” spin-offs. Basically, he has done the entire cycle of shows and is loyal to the franchise. It’s always good to start off the season with someone who is fairly established with the show already.

Obviously, there are some important stories that need to be addressed almost immediately this coming season, including whether or not Benson can solve all of the trauma surrounding her adopted child’s life. There are also likely going to be other loose ends as Amaro tries to adjust to a somewhat-normal life again after what he went through in the finale, and we could have some other familiar faces from the past turn up.
