‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Did Ian Somerhalder reveal Damon’s fate?

While not everyone loves it when actors get a little feisty on social media, we have to admit that more often than not, we enjoy the little shots of personality that come out here and there.

One such person showing off some snark online is Ian Somerhalder, who ironically also shows off plenty of snark on “The Vampire Diaries” much of the time. At the end of season 5, it looked as though his character of Damon Salvatore could be gone for good, as he disappeared off into the light with Bonnie Bennett. However, we’ve personally learned with this show that unless a showrunner definitely tells you that they are dead and not coming back, it doesn’t mean too much. Thanks to this, we therefore believe that we are going to be seeing plenty more of Damon in the future.

Still, that hasn’t stopped Somerhalder from posting an image on his Imstagram account alongside the caption of “Rest in Peace Damon Salvatore. #GameOver :(.” Isn’t that foreboding? We know that there are many already freaking out over it, but we personally wouldn’t read too much into it if we were a diehard “Vampire Diaries.” Ian may be just having some fun with his character’s present situation, or even just trying his best to keep attention on the show during this hiatus. In reality, Damon seems to be technically dead … but there are many ways to reverse that. We are very interested in seeing what the writers do here on out.
