‘Mad Men’ season 7: The man behind Lou speaks out

Mad Men -It’s the nature of the TV business that when it comes to immensely popular shows, there are always going to be characters that you like and dislike … even when these characters have done nothing that horrendous.

One great example of that right now? Lou on “Mad Men.” He is mostly a victim of circumstance, given that he was a de facto replacement for Don Draper, and nobody wanted to see any replacement for Don Draper. Also, you had the fact that he wasn’t particularly kind to Don and understandably so. All of these elements combined in this case led to the character being attacked, and for the actor playing in Allan Havey to feel a little bit of that.

Speaking per Vulture on some of the intense fan response to his role, Havey had the following to say:

They wanted Lou to die. They wanted Lou to die a very painful death. I didn’t think people liked my character, but I wasn’t expecting that harsh reaction. But it’s understandable because people are invested in this show. They are emotionally involved in the characters, and this guy comes along, and he doesn’t fit in with what they want Mad Men to be. It doesn’t bother me a bit. “

Will we see some more of Lou on the next season of the show? In true Matthew Weiner show fashion, Havey cannot say. It is certainly possible that with the new merger, Lou will just go away. He’s not someone who is really in demand now compared to Don Draper, and he may just end up feeling neglected and phased out.
