‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5 spoilers: The case at the center of ‘A New Day’
For “Rizzoli & Isles” fans, we imagine that June 17 really could not come here quickly enough. That is when the series returns to TNT with new episodes, but you don’t have to wait until then to get some details from us about what is coming up.
We posted earlier in the week regarding how the show plans on writing in the death of Lee Thompson Young and the character of Frost. For this article, we’re putting a little more of the focus on the rest of “A New Day,” given that you will not find out much about Frost’s death until the end of the episode. TNT recently released a number of details regarding what you can expect, at least when it comes to everything from a new case to Maura and Frankie trying to figure out where they stand:
“Solving the murder of a jogger takes on even greater urgency when Jane realizes that the motive was theft…of the woman’s baby. As the investigation gets underway, Jane attempts to hide her pregnancy from her snooping mother, and Maura and Frankie face the aftermath of their kiss.”
The purpose of this episode is obviously twofold in that it wants to set up the foundation for the season, while at the same time raise a few questions when it comes to season-long arcs. The second episode in particular will be largely about Young, and we will have a little more on that in the days ahead. Hopefully, the ton of this show can remain the same, at least after they honor one of their fallen actors.
Is there anything in particular you want to see on the “Rizzoli & Isles” premiere? Share some of your thoughts with a comment.

I enjoy the show but would prefer Jane to be solving crimes and kicking but, wait a few years for the children to come along. Many women have a career and children, and manage to do both exceptionally well (I did) but when I’m watching tv, I like the escape of the real world. Why can’t Maura find a man who is anyone but Frankie? Close friends can be just that, close friends with no fringe benefits. Find her someone with similar taste and love of wine, great tasting wine I can afford, less then $600 a bottle.

For Jane to not be pregnant with Casey’s baby and for Maura and Frankie to forget about the kiss and stay friends

Hope Jane’s pregnancy is psychological. Maura tell goof ball Frankie to back off. Send him to another district. Have less Rizzoli family meddling. Make Jane a bad ass again instead of a wimp. Get Maura and Jane back to solving cases and spending more alone time together.
