‘Game of Thrones’ season 4, episode 8 preview: Finally see The Mountain, the Viper
Going into tomorrow night’s “Game of Thrones” episode, we know that there is one thing you want to see: The battle between The Mountain and the Viper. After all, that is the name of the episode itself! One of the craziest showdowns on the show to date.
Just from the attached photo, you really get a sense at just how big The Mountain really is. Pedro Pascal is not a small guy, but he certainly looks that way next to this beast of a man. While this character has been recast twice since the beginning of the show, we don’t mind it if it means that the right guy for the job was acquired here.
What we’re equally interested in beyond the fight is what happens afterwards. For example, does Tyrion Lannister get executed right away if Oberyn is defeated, and does this mean that the Martell family is out of King’s Landing for a time? Another question here could be what happens if Oberyn wins. While Tyrion may technically be free, neither her nor the Viper will be welcome or safe in King’s Landing. Maybe the two go to Dorne together, but Tyrion has refused opportunities to leave King’s Landing in the past. We anticipate this being a particularly hard decision for him to make.
Hopefully by the end of this episode, the fate of the trial is a little more clear. We’ll have two episode after it to deal with the aftermath and figuring out just what comes next.
What do you think will happen, and in the event that Oberyn wins, what do you think will happen from here?
