‘Silicon Valley’ episode 8 (finale) spoilers: Jared’s ‘pivot’ strategy (video)

Silicon Valley -The sneak peek below basically summarizes perfectly everything that we love about “Silicon Valley” on HBO, whether it be great writing, a sense of realism to the world the show is in, and just knockout performances.

We’ve said this maybe once or twice so far this spring, but it’s worth repeating: Zach Woods should be an Emmy nominee for this show. While there are a few little elements of his character Gabe from “The Office” in Jared, there is also something so offbeat and distinct about him. This is a guy who s completely dedicated to his craft, yet so delusional when it comes to people and how to actually function properly. We’d love to see what happened if he ever got a love interest. This sneak peek also works because it brings us back to that random bit of Jared being stuck on the island of misfit robots from a little earlier in the season.

As for another brilliant moment, that line from Kumail Nanjiani at the very end had us howling. Kumail is one of those actors (and comedians, for that right) that can take one line out of nowhere and turn it into something great. The fact that this show managed to actually capitalize on all of the great people in its cast (Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, the late Christopher Evan Welch) despite the hype going in is absolutely amazing. It’s more than just HBO, since we’ve found their comedies in a post-“Sex and the City” world to be a little hit or miss.
