‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7 spoilers: Marilyn Manson casting official
If you have been around “Sons of Anarchy’s” internet community for some time, you probably heard the rumors surrounding Marilyn Manson maybe getting some sort of gig on the show this year. He already was cultivating musical ties, but the problem when confirming his casting as fact is that we didn’t want to jump the gun like so many others have done in the past with Adam Levine and Aaron Paul rumors.
Well, today it is official that Manson is joining the show. FX put out an official press release today, saying that the singer would be recurring on the seventh and final season as Ron Tully, a white supremacist who, despite being in prison, is someone who Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) tries to use to his own benefit.
In this release, Manson had the following to say about the show, and his personal connection to it thanks to his family:
“Sons has been such a big part of my life, as well as my father’s. So I was determined to make him proud by being involved in what will probably be remembered as the most amazing piece of television cinema. After all, the very heart of SOA is about that relationship. So, now all I need is a motorcycle.”
The casting is interesting given the myriad of other things Manson is known for, and his onstage persona is such a character in his own right. However, one of the joyous things about this show is that creator Kurt Sutter is never afraid to make casting choices that no one would ever predict in advance, whether it be someone like Dave Navarro or Joel McHale, who is known primarily for comedy rather than drama.
