‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8: Show boss on further changes for Sheldon, cast

Here it is -Within the world of “The Big Bang Theory,” change is in fact a theme. It may just not be as sudden as you get with some other shows. Everyone has undergone a subtle evolution since the beginning; after all, Leonard has gone from “our children will be smart and beautiful” to actually being in a position where he could have a future with Penny.

In the season 7 finale, though, the biggest change came courtesy of the Sheldon character as he, in an attempt to get a break from it all, seemed to be ready to board a train to parts unknown. So could he come back a completely different character when this all is over? Signs here point to something that is a little more simple than that, at least based on executive producer Steven Molaro’s comments to Entertainment Weekly:

“If you look at the history of the show over the past seven years, they’ve all changed quite a bit … Our goal is usually to have the characters grow, but still let them be the characters. There’s a line to walk.”

One other reason to slow down the change may just be because nobody at the moment should really be in much of a hurry to get to the end of the road. The show has at least three more seasons left in it based on its recent renewal, and at that point, they can figure out whether or not there is a life in this beyond a season 10. After all, “Two and a Half Men” made it all the way to 12 before making the choice to sign off.
