‘Britain’s Got Talent’ review: Lucy Kay, Yanis Marshall, REAformed, and more highlights
When Simon Cowell came out near the end of this “Britain’s Got Talent” show and proclaimed that Lucy Kay had helped to save the night, he wasn’t trying to be cute or anything else. This night, for the most part, was a trainwreck. Save for REAformed, nobody was particularly worthy of going through to the next round.
We’re going to focus this article on ranking the acts from worst to first, and if you come back a little later tonight, you will get our full take on the results.
9. Brian Chan – This was not a performance so much as some weird little art show. We appreciate the effort that he’s serious about the craft, but this isn’t the right sort of show for this. He would be better off on a different show that showed off his set better.
8. Sam Jones – He’s not a bad ventriloquist, but he created a character voice that is far too difficult to understand … thus violating rule #1 of being a good ventriloquist.
7. Crazy Rouge – First of all, a pretty terrible name for an act. Also, there’s no way that they get to the next round of the competition. They were literally here just to ensure that there was a variety of performers.
6. Ellis Chick – The whole “you’re going to be a star” bit is a little overblown, no? Still, this was a very competent performance from Ellis to a song that almost everyone in Britain knows well already.
5. Kitty and Roise – This was cheeky fun. Nothing more, and nothing less. At least the mother-daughter duo sang well and keep us entertained.
4. Cartel – It was not a perfect routine by any means, but we did very much love and appreciate the deliberate trolling of Simon Cowell that happened when Jamie of the group acted like he quit.
3. Yanis Marshall, Arnaud, and Medhi – Still hate the name, but there is something so fun and camp about watching these three strut around in heels, even if there is nothing that revolutionary being done.
2. REAformed – A very nice performance that was a big improvement from what we saw the first time on the show. Alesha Dixon saved them for a reason!
1. Lucy Kay – A tremendous performance to help end the show well. So wonderful and almost sublime from start to finish. This was almost so good that there is nothing we can really say here.
