‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4: Jennifer Morrison on Hook / Emma pairing
Two seasons ago with “Once Upon a Time,” it was hard to really imagining the Emma Swan character with anyone after Sheriff Graham died, let along someone like Captain Hook who we all assumed would be a feared villain.
Instead, we learned that the real mettle when it comes to this character was more as a foil to Emma, and a way to be both loving but also very complicated. The two have the potential to be happy, but also the baggage to struggle to figure things out. Can Hook really stop himself from turning evil again, and will Emma be able to fully trust him? These are questions that we do see coming up and playing a big role in season 4.
In speaking about this relationship now to TVLine, even Jennifer Morrison admits that she is surprised that the two are now seemingly together; however, she also admits that there are plenty of reasons why they would be:
“If you had said it to me when we first started the show, I never would have anticipated it — but the reality is that he’s a very kindred spirit. They’ve both been through similar things, they’re both survivors and they’ve both had to fight in order to literally just live. There’s also something in them where they’ll both go to great lengths to protect the people they care about — and sometimes they’ll do really bad things to do that, but they both have really good hearts, so I think they see a lot of themselves in each other.”
Where could this couple go from here? We’d love to see what the idea of a date looks like for the two of them, or if they could ever live in a house or have a traditional family together with Henry, despite the fact that neither are traditional people.

I don’t see hook going evil…he has had a lot of opportunity to do that this whole season but he took the noble route each time…minus when he was heartbroken in the EF…but even then he changed

I don’t think Hook will “turn evil” again. Actually, I’m not sure he really ever was, he was just driven by wanting to avenge Milah – he had his own goals that crossed paths with Emma’s and others in Storybrooke. But as seasons 2 and 3 progressed we can really see him falling for Emma and putting his life on the line again and again for her. I think they’re really similar in a lot of ways – they’ve both been through love and loss and they are, like you said, survivors. They keep going. I just really love them together, because Emma brings out the sensitive, gentlemanly, caring side of Hook, and he brings out the vulnurability in her. He brought down her walls. :) I was so happy that there was so much Captain-Swan interaction in the season 3 finale, and I’m really excited to see where their relationship will go in season 4. I ship Captain Swan so hard.

Everybody I know loves them together! They would be a great foundational couple with fun loving wisdom! They need to develop this relationship in a good way. No going back and forth (evil/good) like Rupple. Keep it unique, yet genuine. Let their hearts mend through love. We need some continuous happy endings sometimes. .. :) Colin’s acting has really given Hook an interesting character. You just want to be that guys friend. .. he’s so funny, yet sensitive.

I don’t see him going evil again and emma can trust him in my opinion. i mean the guy jumped in a portal after her. He loves her too much to go evil again and do anything to hurt her in my opinion. Also i think it would be really stupid to destroy all the redemption he went through in season 3.

I love to see their modern dates and so on, but Hook is a intelligent and adaptable man so his modern day dating would be good to see and he’d be even more sweet about it, coz he has the gentleman classic thing going despite the ruggish pirate garb. Overall i feel these two have always been a couple without being an couple, now they can kiss and touch each other all they want, so i can see them continuing how they are as a team and unit, and growing their romance and working together, for me i kinda link them to Snow and Charming due to how connected they are and faith he has in her and belief in her etc.

I so agree with you! If you watch, they have been acting like a couple since Hook got Emma from New York. Look how he seems to gravitate towards her and her to him
