‘American idol XIII’ finale: Caleb Johnson’s album gets August ‘release date’

Caleb -Have you started to process the results of the “American Idol” finale yet? We don’t think that Caleb Johnson is going to have the success of “Home” with his winner’s single “As Long As You Love Me,” but that doesn’t mean that his debut album is going to suffer. It just depends on if he is going to have the time to actually put together something great, and if he has the right material.

Based on the release date for his upcoming self-titled debut, we know now that he is going to have quite the challenge on his hands. It was revealed today that Caleb’s debut is going to come out on August 12, and that’s not a ton of time to get thing together.

Of course, the thing to remember here is that this date is strictly tentative based on a variety of different things, including how quickly it is recorded. If you remember, Candice Glover last year was going to release her debut album “Music Speaks” in the summer, but that quickly changed and was eventually bumped back all the way until February. Her album may have been better for it, but it did not help her at all when it came to album sales.

The good news for Caleb is that he does have a heavy contingent of rock fans out there who will be interested in getting what he puts into stores. The bad news for Caleb? That there re also plenty of fans out there who would’ve rather see Jena Irene win, and his genre is something that is traditionally of the love-or-hate variety.
