‘White Collar’ season 6 spoilers: Matt Bomer on contributing ideas to finale
While the final season of “White Collar” is still in the process of getting made, it turns out that one of the stars of the show may have had an interesting role in ensuring that it came to an ending that he felt was right.
Speaking about some of the discussions regarding how the show might end in a chat with TVLine, Matt Bomer described how he, Tim DeKay, and Willie Garson came together to present to the show’s creator some sort of ending that they feel was perfect for the journey so far:
“I had this wild idea about how the story should end, and I talked to Tim [DeKay] about it and I talked to Willie [Garson] about it and we talked to [series creator] Jeff Eastin … Everybody put their two cents in and were vibing on it. I think we came up with something that’s really fun and fitting. When I thought about it, it was really the only way we could end the show. I hope everyone’s happy with it.”
What could this ending be? We imagine that the answer to that is going to very much depend on what you enjoyed from the show in the first place. For some of you, that may mean Neal finding his freedom; for others, it could mean him having a happy ending romantically. The truth here is that there is almost no concrete or perfect way to end a show.. Everyone has their own idea about how thing could wrap up, and therefore it is very hard to please all.
What do you think is going to happen on the final “White Collar” season, and do you think it’s actually possible that most of the characters you love will have a happy ending? I’d like to see Neal marry Sophie, the beautiful blond wealthy widow. They had very good chemistry and she could afford to support him in the lifestyle he likes so he could continue to consult with the FBI. Or, I’d like to see him ride off into the sunset with Alex. They are also good together. Since Matt came up with the idea for the actual ending, I will trust him. He is smart and has a great sense of humor and he knows Neal better than anyone. And, yes, I hope it is a happy ending for everyone. I have become attached to all the regular characters.

Eww no way is Sara coming back. She always seemed out of place and made me cringe at her efforts, somehow. Matt’s “wild, fun, and fitting” sounds great. I’ll be happy with whatever Matt & the gang come up with.

I think 6 seasons isn’t long enough for this show and should go on for a couple more. But I do think Sara should come back at some point.
