‘Supernatural’ season 9, episode 23 (finale) spoilers: Jared Padalecki on Sam, Castiel’s new goal
Much earlier on in “Supernatural” season 9, we would have assumed that one of the primary stories for the finale would have been Sam, Dean, and Castiel working together to defeat Metatron, and to try and reestablish Heaven as the place that it should be.
To an extent, the battle against Metatron is still going to be a theme, but what we certainly didn’t expect going into this was that Dean was going to be in any sort of adversarial position. Of course, Sam and Castiel don’t want to do anything terrible to him, but can be done to stop a guy who is clearly not acting like himself? This is something that Jared Padalecki commented on in his pre-finale interview with TVLine:
“Sam and Cas are going to have to team up because Dean has powers that are heretofore unknown, so they’re surprising both Sam and Cas … We have to go to a pretty big extreme to take care of what’s going on with Dean.”
Just in case you are wondering the sheer intensity of this season’s cliffhanger, Misha Collins claims that the last ten seconds are some of the most exciting stuff that the show has done in the last five years. That’s high prize, but also certainly possible given what this show is capable of cliffhanger-wise.
What do you think: Are we going to see season 10 start off with all three of our leads working together, or do you think that there will be some sort of other force that comes in makes life hard on them again? We as always want to hear some of your thoughts and theories, and if you head over here, you can get some more scoop via Misha Collins.
