‘Game of Thrones’ season 4: Sophie Turner passionately defends Sansa Stark

Sansa -Throughout the entire fourth season of “Game of Thrones,” Sansa Stark has been in a difficult position. First, she was married to Tyrion Lannister despite having no feelings for him whatsoever, and she moved quickly from that over to having to go on the run, being taken by Littlefinger, and then brought to the Eyrie. Now, she has to deal with Tysa Tully, who is by far one of the most jealous people to ever walk the face of the earth.

So why do people not like a character with this much going on? From the standpoint of Sophie Turner, she tells TV Guide that much of it has to do with the fact that she is playing a character who is simply different than some of the more action-oriented female characters:

“This is what frustrates me … People don’t like Sansa because she is feminine. It annoys me that people only like the feminine characters when they act like male characters. And they always go on about feminism. Like, you’re rooting for the people who look like boys, who act like boys, who fight like boys. Root for the girls who wear dresses and are intellectually very strong.”

If we were to extrapolate our own emotions towards the Sansa character, we would start off by saying that a significant portion of our own personal dislike comes here out of the way in which she behaved at the start of the first season … but our opinion has changed greatly since then. While we cannot say that we adore every little thing that Sansa does, she does have a very interesting story in that she’s surrounded by smart people, and yet she finds a way to survive. She is also surprisingly patient for someone her age, and realizes that sometimes, the best move you can make is almost no move at all.
