‘Mad Men’ season 7: Alison Brie on the always-mysterious status of Trudy Campbell

Mad Men -Is there a need to see Trudy Campbell on “Mad Men” this season? We’ve wondered that for the past several weeks, given that she hasn’t turned up yet, Pete Campbell is in Los Angeles, and we’ve already had one update on her life in the form of her father’s death.

There’s also one other part of the equation that you have to remember here: Whether or not Alison Brie was available to do any more of the show this season. She’s got “Community” in addition to other roles, and all of this can lead to a very difficult challenge trying to fit her in.

If there is any hope that we have of Brie coming back this season, it is that she’s at least still talking about the show. Take, for instance, a new Vanity Fair piece where she said the following about her strange, ambiguous status:

“You just never know as a recurring character when you’re going to be needed, so Mad Men has always been that boyfriend that I am, like, way more into than I think he is into me.”

Given that Pete is technically a father (though you may have a hard time remembering that from time to time), we still feel like there is a future for Brie on this show. We at least know, if nothing else, that her “Community” schedule did not overlap with every single portion of “Mad Men” season 7 filming. We don’t believe she will be in a ton of episodes moving forward, but that has always been the way in which this show overlaps.
