‘Britain’s Got Talent’ delayed due to football; when will it begin?
This is going to feel familiar to “Britain’s Got Talent” fans at this time: A delay for the show airing a new episode thanks to a football contest. This time around, the show is going to be pushed back for at least a little while longer while the game finishes up airing on ITV.
Is this frustrating for many? We have to believe so, since people want to go out and do other things, and not be held to the mercy of a sporting event that they are not even watching for any other reason. But this is a phenomenon that so many other networks can fully relate to, thanks largely to the fact that sports contracts are huge and expensive for networks … and also draw huge ratings. During a chunk of American football season, fans of “The Amazing Race” and “The Good Wife” are forced to wait almost more than thirty extra minutes a week longer than they would otherwise for the start of their programs thanks to delays. This is, at least per our own estimation, one of the reasons why so many people out there stop watching TV live on these nights.
The lucky thing about “Britain’s Got Talent” is that it is a popular enough program that there are viewers who are going to want to watch it regardless of when it comes on, just for the sake of it being such a fun show to get involved in. We’re also getting near the start of the live shows, and that is always an especially crazy week.
