NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2, episode 13 (finale) spoilers: ‘Mizumono’ and the Jack, Hannibal fight
You’ve been waiting for it since the season premiere of “Hannibal” earlier this spring, but on the season 2 finale a week from Friday, it is finally going to be here: The epic battle between Jack and Hannibal that likely comes from the truth being revealed to him. These episodes have really blown by, and it also is to be seen whether or not the finale finds a place for the faceless Mason Verger that we saw at the end of tonight’s “Tome-Wan.”
Before we go any further, let’s start this article off with the customary synopsis via NBC. This one is not nearly as revealing as others that have been released:
“Hannibal prepares for his imminent departure with, he believes, Will. Will prepares for a departure of another sort, tying up loose ends, not sure if he’ll survive the trap he’s set for Hannibal. Both men feel that Jack (Laurence Fishburne) deserves the truth, but what is that truth? Loyalties will be tested and forgiveness will be asked…and the inevitable battle between Hannibal and Jack is upon them.”
When it comes to the show’s episode titles, we traditionally get very confused trying to analyze them, given that they all really do represent little other than just some food item from a various culture. If there is a great meaning to them, it is really in the form of the order they appear.
“Mizumono,” which is the title for the finale, is basically the last course of a Japanese meal, and can often be either a piece of fruit or a fig. Here, it is the brilliant Bryan Fuller putting a bow on an incredible year’s worth of work.
