‘Britain’s Got Talent’ preview: Contestant Ed Drewett has One Direction, The Wanted connections
How is this for a high-profile “Britain’s Got Talent” contestant? Ed Drewett is going to be appearing on this weekend’s new episode, and he is someone who has quite a connection already to Simon Cowell … or at least one of his most-profitable acts. Drewett helped to write the One Direction hit “Best Song Ever,” and he also worked on “Glad You Came” by The Wanted.
So can he be a successful singer in his own right? The thing about the preview video below is that a few seconds into it, we understand completely why Drewett has not been given a chance as an artist in his own right. His voice is limited, and we see there only being so much that he is going to be able to do with that.
With this being said … he is a very good songwriter, and there are other artists out there who have been able to do a lot without having the best vocal ranges in the world. He’s still a million degrees better than half of pop radio right now. There is little doubt to us that he is going to be put through to the next round, and could even be a contender beyond that. After all, it’s been a while since a singer has won this show, and it feels like the time for that to happen.
For those curious, we’ll of course be back tomorrow with another review of this episode … so be sure to be on the lookout for that! If you cannot wait for the start of the live shows, trust us: You’re not alone.
