NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 2, episode 12 preview: The battle for Mason Verger
While most shows on network TV are ending this week, there is some good news still for fans of “Hannibal“: You get to wait a little bit longer before your story comes to a complete conclusion. There are two episodes remaining, and “Tome-Wan” on Friday looks to answer a very important question: What in the world could happen next to Mason Verger?
Well, we certainly know judging from the promo below that Hannibal Lecter is not messing around anymore when it comes to whether or not he wants him dead. Clearly, he does. The larger questions here revolve around whether or not someone will take him out, and if this is something that can be used in the quest to expose Hannibal as the Chesapeake Ripper. That is ultimately the goal here, and the plot that Will Graham has put into motion for quite some time. Freddie Lounds is now in on it, and Alana Bloom is starting to become aware of things.
Will Mason survive the season? This is all about pros and cons. The obvious pro here in keeping Mason around is that Michael Pitt is amazing, and this character has a much larger role in the books that has yet to be fulfilled. However, we have a hard time imagining that Pitt is the sort of guy you are going to be able to keep around the show for a long period of time thanks to the fact that he is amazing. He didn’t even make it that long on “Boardwalk Empire.”
