‘The Blacklist’ finale: Exec breaks down twists, deaths, and season 2 possibilities
Let’s start here with the sad news that you already know about “The Blacklist”: The show is over for the next few months. So why not take a minute or two to reflect on everything that happened, while at the same time looking towards the future? That is what the latest video below from NBC is about.
In this clip, executive producer John Eisendrath starts things off by discussing the hard decisions that case with killing off one of the major characters in Meera, the reaction to Red’s wounds (possibly from the fire), and also how excited everyone on the show is about what is coming up for season 2. He mentions specifically the opportunity to tell some more great stories about the various blacklisters that we will continue to meet, and also teases that moving forward, there will be some fantastic opportunities to get to know a little bit more news about the people that we have already met. For example, what are Ressler and Cooper hiding from us?
Also, there is no mention in here as to just what is going to happen next with Tom Keen. In some ways, it looked like the finale was going to be the character’s swan song after everything that transpired with him. However, if there is one thing that we have come to learn time and time again with this show, it is that nothing ever is as it seems. Given the popularity of Ryan Eggold, it’s not going to be a surprise at all if the character survives. The larger twist will just be seeing how the writers find a way to include him in what lies ahead.

Personally I groaned at the idea we were going back to episodic blacklisters every week. The stronger aspects of the show are the serialised ones. To be honest the most interesting and exciting part of the season was learning more about Ryan Eggold’s character and I’d rather we pick up with that story in season 2. Cooper and Ressler don’t interest me in the slightest. If it means season 2 will just be procedural blacklist episodes each week with shoe horned in Cooper/Ressler scenes to appease the actors then I have a feeling I wont be tuning in each week. Maybe I just want a separate spy series with Eggold!!
