‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Jennifer Morrison on Regina – Emma rivalry
The more things change, the more they stay the same … at least when it comes to a show like “Once Upon a Time.” While you may see new worlds, new characters, and appearances from characters that make you want to spontaneously break out into a rendition of “Let It Go,” this is show mostly about family, and also whether or not people can change.
Over the past season, that question was geared towards the Regina character, and for a while, it legitimately looked like we were going to see a new side to that character. Unfortunately, that changed when we learned that Emma had brought Maid Marian into the present, not knowing who she was in relationship to Robin Hood. (It’s mostly amazing that this stuff never came up during her time behind bars.)
Clearly, this wasn’t something that Emma intended to be malicious towards Regina, but as Jennifer Morrison tells TVLine, she would have done the same thing even if she had all of the information in front of her. While she wants to be a good friend to Regina and for them to constantly be on good terms, that desire to be a hero just keeps on creeping through:
“Emma definitely wants Regina to be with Robin, and she never would have intentionally done anything to hurt that. But she’d also never let someone die in the circumstance that [Marian] was in. So it’s one of those situations where doing the right thing is going to have terrible repercussions. But I think it’s good for the show. We should have conflict between Regina and Emma, because that’s where the show got its feet in the first place.”
