TV Quick Hits: OWN’s Michael Sam series; ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ trailer; late-night news

OWN -OWN snags Michael Sam – Michael Sam has been in the press quite a bit lately, so it cannot be much of a surprise to find out that OWN has managed to snatch up the newest member of the St. Louis Rams to take part in a series on the network.

From the people who made Lindsay Lohan’s “Lindsay,”  this show will look at Sam’s preparation and hopes to be the first openly gay NFL athlete. We already imagine that there are some who are going to label this an unnecessary distraction from football, and maybe it is; however, we see it as a human-interest stories about acceptance, and that could be captivating. Also, Sam has to make some money somewhere since it’s not even guaranteed he will make the team.

Neil Patrick Harris nixes late-night show ideas – Neil was at one point rumored to be a host of either “The Late Show” or “The Late Late Show” moving forward, and as it turns out, he was even asked about the possibility. The actor told Howard Stern this week that Les Moonves of CBS discussed the idea with him, but he feels he would get “bored”doing something similar every night. Instead, he is open to doing a variety show at some point.

Real Housewives of New Jersey” trailer – After a season that became excruciating to watch at times, we’re glad to see the show went in a new direction … and also brought Dina Manzo back for more! You can see the first new trailer below for the show, and it contains just about every bit of drama that you would think.

On a different note, who wants to watch a trailer for a show that is four minutes long?
