‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 5 reaction: Ben Feldman reacts to ‘nipple’ surprise
Given that “Mad Men” typically makes its money off of being a delightfully subtle show, there are not too many opportunities that the show has to really blow something out of the water.
Well, they managed to do just that on this past Sunday’s episode courtesy of the Ginsberg character. We’ve heard of strange gifts being presented to co-workers, but a nipple valve? That’s something new. As we said in our podcast recently, this was a significant surprise for us mostly in that the insanity part of his personality came almost out of nowhere. Everyone may have known that Ginsberg was crazy, but this crazy? That part of it was still somewhat of a surprise.
In explaining a little bit of his own reaction to playing something like this in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Ben Feldman said that he was actually not sad at all about possibly leaving the show. Instead, it was a worthy exit that got him excited:
“I was really excited. I’d much rather have something like that happen then just be relegated to the background and sort of fizzle out in the last season when all the really important characters need to be wrapped up. I was just lucky that I got to do anything that exciting and ridiculous. So we had a really nice talk about it and he explained everything that was going to happen, and we both just sort of geeked out, in like a sick nerd way about those scenes.”
