‘The Originals’ season 2: What we know about Joseph Morgan, cast’s future

Tonight on “The Originals,” the show will be wrapping up its first season in grand fashion, and with a series of pretty crazy events to go along with it.

So what lies ahead? Season 2 premieres in the fall, but before we do anything else, let’s go ahead and share everything that we expect to see on the episodes ahead … and also what has been confirmed so far.

1. Production is already underway – This is the only CW show to be getting a jump on next season, and we feel as though scheduling (given that Daniel Gillies has another job on “Saving Hope”) may be a reason for that.

2. You can count on more romance – The Hayley / Elijah story was played out well leading up to the kiss, but as anyone who watches “The Vampire Diaries” knows, things stay complicated in this world.

3. More death – Come on, it’s “The Originals.” While death is a frequent occurrence on this show, the characters that we would be most worried about the rest of the way are the ones who are recurring. This show has already done away with one regular and another left the show, so there aren’t that many other beloved regulars to lose.

4. New faces – Specifically, we want some new faces that are completely original to the franchise. No more repeats! Those are boring to watch in some many ways.

5. At least one more crossover with “The Vampire Diaries” – The show has shied away from doing a whole lot of crossovers so far thanks mostly to the fact that the writers wanted to ensure that “The Originals” is its own show, and doesn’t just blend into the one that started the franchise. However, this will not be nearly as much of a priority in the future. You can mix and match the characters, and give them all something further to do. We, for one, would love to see Marcel in Mystic Falls.
