‘Community’ season 6: Dan Harmon admits to doubts, will look to continue show
So is Dan Harmon really against the idea of a “Community” season 6? Over the past several days, this is the rumor that has started to pop up around the industry, and it is all courtesy of a Deadline report that came out last night saying that the show’s creator may be the reason that the beloved show is not revived somewhere else.
So is any of that really true? The answer in this instance may be a little bit more complicated than you would first think. Writing in a new post on his Tumblr, Harmon admitted to at first being skeptical about the idea of moving his show with Sony to a new network or service. However, he then admitted that he has since washed away some of that doubt, and will now fight to make the show happen:
“I will confess … that when Sony called me on Friday with the news, there was brief discussion at the end of the call about the concept of the show living elsewhere, and I was definitely in the “eh” column. For a million reasons, some selfish, some creative, one logistic, five sexual, three racist (in a good way) and, oddly, nine isometric. I won’t bore you with them. I mean, of course I will bore you with them. Boring you is my job, my hobby and my passion. But it doesn’t matter right now WHY I’d be lukewarm or if my reasons would be valid, what matters is, I won’t be lukewarm. I’ll heat up. I said “eh” on a Friday afternoon, I will change it to a “sure, let’s talk” on Monday morning and Sony can do their thing. I’m not going to be the guy that recancels cancelled Community.”
Harmon added that there is still an uphill battle to get the show on the air again, and that is most likely true. While there is at least one interested suitor for the show to have a sixth season, there is still making sure everyone else wants to be involved, and getting all the financials worked out on a network that may not have the same budget as NBC.
We’ll at least keep you updated on this story as more and more information starts to come out about it. For now, just click here to read our other “Community” updates, or here to get further good stuff via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
