‘Doctor Who’ season 8: BBC source on Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, and dynamics

Doctor Who -Even though we are still several months still from the beginning of “Doctor Who” season 8, we are getting more and more of an indication right now that there is certainly quite a bit to look forward to. The buzz is great about Peter Capaldi as a new leading man; not only will he continue the tradition of many beloved Doctors before him, but he also brings something new, exciting, and even in a way mysterious to the table.

Speaking per the Radio Times, a source claimed that the BBC is currently “thrilled” with what they are seeing from these new stories. Not only that, but they love the dynamic that Jenna Coleman and Capaldi are bringing to the series together:

“He is the oldest Doctor and there is a sense he is more distanced from his assistant, more of a mystery He is perhaps less a mate, and someone she looks up to. She has to try and gauge him – but dramatically it’s very satisfying and onscreen they work very well together.”

Does this sound fantastic to anyone else? It certainly does to us, given that there are so many directions that this can go in after watching several months of Matt Smith’s Doctor having a sometimes-flirtatious relationship with Coleman’s Clara Oswald. That was definitely a different relationship than the one that we are going to have here. With all this being said, we certainly wouldn’t rule out some other romance for #12, or for Clara depending on who turns up. But then again, we don’t believe that romance is really something that is being prioritized on this show over the variety of other things that are taking place.
