‘Downton Abbey’ season 5: Siobhan Finneran interested in return

What's up next? -When “Downton Abbey” wants to ensure that a character does not return to their show in any shape or form, you probably know at this point what they are inclined to do: Just go ahead and kill them off! They are not afraid to do away with characters in such a way, even if these are people who are considered by many to be by and large beloved. After all, they have enough cast members to more than make up for it most of the time.

So if your character is left alive, then you have to consider that there is a good chance that you can return. One of these characters now is none other than Siobhan Finneran, who played the part of O’Brien throughout the first three years of the show before disappearing for the fourth. Speaking in a new interview with The Sun, she explained that there would be a certain kind of joy that could come with returning to the show … provided that the circumstances surrounding her coming back were correct, of course:

”I’d love playing her but she’d have to go back for some reason. I’d love to return and wreck the Bates’ marriage or something like that … Miss O’Brien was so wicked, bitter, horrible and vile but she was funny as well as being very, very, sharp. Maybe one day O’Brien will fly back on her broomstick to cause mischief and mayhem.”

Personally, we would love to see a little more of O’Brien on the show, mostly because we like a good villain here and there … and her and Thomas are a heck of a combination.
