‘American Horror Story’ season 4 spoilers: More terror; plus, hipster fears!
Just when you thought that things were starting to become a little more concrete when it comes to the upcoming fourth season of “American Horror Story,” comments start to come out that force you to change your mind.
In this case, we are talking about the early perception that this was going to be a lighter season of the show when it comes to the major scares, when it is instead turning out to be one that will very much give you serious chills. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about this particular subject, executive producer Ryan Murphy made it very clear just what sort of stuff you should expect to see play out:
“It was always a concept that Jessica and I talked about really early on … It was always her favorite one, which I thought was funny. I’ve had many different versions that I’ve run by her. I just love it. It feels really right. I thought it was going to be light but it’s turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark, which it feels much more like the Asylum season. But look — if you have a character named the Clown Killer, it’s going to be dark.”
So yes, there are going to be evil clowns, which continues the tradition of clowns being the biggest hipster fear ever. Are there people out there genuinely afraid? Sure, but we’ve also ran into dozens who claim that just because it makes them sound cool in some way to be terrified of someone who is around primarily for amusement first and foremost.
What do you think about a darker “American Horror Story” season, and do you prefer that after a “Coven” season that did at times venture into far-too-silly territory?
