CBS orders ‘CSI: Cyber’ spin-off; ‘How I Met Your Dad’ future unclear despite rumors
CBS has made many moves clear over the past couple of days when it comes to their upcoming fall schedule; however, one of the things that we are still waiting for some answers on is something that we all thought would be a given at this time two months ago.
Is “How I Met Your Dad” actually going to be ordered to series? It’s amazing just how much one terribly-received series finale for a show can change everything. What was once excitement for the Greta Gerwig series has turned to dismay as viewers have turned on the same network that gave them “How I Met Your Mother” thanks to the woeful ending, which took away all of the momentum of Ted and The Mother and replaced her with Robin.
Despite claims that the show had already been picked up, it is not the case, and we may be waiting until the upfront for all the information about this to be released. CBS is not going to air it, though, unless they are really confident that it can be a hit. They spared themselves from a “Beverly Hills Cop” reboot this past season when the pilot came in and was not to their satisfaction.
On a different note, the network has ordered a more traditional spin-off in “CSI: Cyber,” which surprises us mostly because this is not a show that will draw many young viewers at all. Then again, they also ordered “NCIS: New Orleans,” and we are not all that confident about its own ability to bring in people in the demo, either.
We’ll have some more updates on all of this as the news breaks, but if you want to get some further news now on all we cover, be sure to sign up today for our CarterMatt Newsletter.
