‘The Crazy Ones,’ ‘Friends with Better Lives,’ ‘Intelligence,’ ‘Bad Teacher’ canceled by CBS

The Crazy Ones -In the end, the “big” cancellations by CBS were hardly that big at all. Most of these are for shows that you could see coming from several weeks ago.

Losing “The Crazy Ones” is probably the only one of these that would have surprised you had you been told many months ago. Robin Williams had a lot of star power, but this show just wasn’t as funny in the early going as it needed to be, and for some reason the single-camera format doesn’t work very well on CBS compared to their more traditional sitcoms.

As for some of the other shows.

“Friends with Better Lives” – Ever since premiering after the “How I Met Your Mother” series finale, the show has received  diminishing returns. Then again, at least it was liked better than the “How I Met Your Mother” finale.

“Bad Teacher” – This show premiered so late in the season that it was clear that CBS had no interest whatsoever in keeping it around for another season.

“Intelligence” – This show with Josh Holloway got off to a great start in the ratings, thanks to airing after an “NCIS” episode. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t very good and felt like a very derivative version of “Chuck” minus most of the humor that made “Chuck” a good show. Maybe this means Meghan Ory can do more work on “Once Upon a Time” again?

CBS was very liberal when it came to keeping shows around this year; as a matter of fact, they even decided to pick up “The Mentalist” for another season despite no inclination beforehand that they would.
