‘Homeland’ season 4: Morena Baccarin lands another post-show project
While Morena Baccarin may not necessarily be completely done with “Homeland,” she is no longer a series regular. With that in mind, her schedule is free to work on some other TV projects that are out there … including the one that we are here to report on today.
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, Baccarin is set to join Rebecca Ferguson (“The White Queen”) and Minnie Driver (“About a Boy”) in “The Red Tent,” a two-part Lifetime miniseries that follows along a similar theme in TV and film right now: Stories from the Bible. While religion may not be a part of every American’s life, there are plenty of Christians out there who have shown a demand for this sort of programming. Even non-Christians have taken an interest.
This project is based off of the 1997 Anita Diamant book, and Ferguson plays the lead as Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob from the Old Testament. This is more of an expounding and a reinvention of sorts, so don’t expect some sort of straightforward Biblical tale here. Baccarin plays one of Jacob’s wives, and the story revolves around his courtship of these women through Dinah’s eyes.
Lifetime has long been in the miniseries game, but lately they have focused more on telling a little more high-concept stories, or some (see “Bonnie & Clyde”) with a tinge of history to them. It used to be the network was known more for cheesy retellings of major headlines.
