‘Homeland’ season 4 spoilers: Show boss on the ‘shadow’ Damian Lewis’ Brody casts
Even though Nicholas Brody is going to be gone from “Homeland” moving forward, there is one thing that you should be acutely aware of right now: He is definitely not going to be forgotten. This is a character who has been hugely significant to the entire journey of the show, and now, the reality of his exit has to be fully faced.
But even though you are going to see Carrie away from the events that unfolded with Brody when season 4 picks up, don’t take this as any sort of sign that nobody is going to be thinking about the character. As a matter of fact, it could not be further from the truth. As executive producer Alex Gansa tells E! News in a new interview at the “24: Live Another Day” premiere (hence the Jack Bauer reference), this character will continue to haunt the show:
“What does a Brody-less Homeland look like is probably the biggest challenge. But Brody is always present in her life and the shadow of his loss is very long and dark … She was pregnant with his baby. Not unlike Jack Bauer, she is very good at what she does, but it’s often incompatible with the human things that the rest of us get to enjoy: love, kindness and motherhood.”
The question regarding Carrie’s child will be interesting to explore further when the show picks back up. The last that it was heard, the kid was probably going to be staying with Carrie’s father, but has that changed? With there being a time jump between seasons, many different things are possible.
